Forest School and LOtC

At Himbleton we are fortunate to have extensive outdoor grounds which enable children to learn outside the classroom, including a wonderful Forest School site, enabling us to integrate the outdoors fully into our unique and carefully designed curriculum.

All children from Nursery to Year 6 have a designated Forest School session every week led by Mrs Bailey, our accredited Forest School leader.  Forest School is a long-term approach to education which, as a result of extensive research, has proven that children experience an increase in their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being.  In addition, Forest School nurtures children's relationship with the rich natural diversity of the woodland environment and fosters an understanding of their responsibility for the world in which they live.

Our outdoor learning environments are also used extensively to build on learning in other curriculum areas, including English and Mathematics, to ensure that the needs of all learners are met.
